After another beautiful morning of waking up at anywhere from 6 to 7, we headed out to Guaymas to start working on the church we helped fundraise for. With the hot sun and hard work, we had our designated water girl (Corina with a sore wrist), and three "moms" reminding everyone to put on sunscreen every couple of hours. With the dust from the dirt we were shoveling and wheeling around sticking to our sweat, we all had red tans that thankfully washed off later on in the shower. Unfortunately some didn't. A couple of burnt legs and hat tans later we headed off home thankful we could bless such an amazing church.
We had our first Canadian meal out here today, hamburgers and chips for supper. Doesn't compare to the real Mexican food we get out here though. Looking forward to more of Brenda's amazing food and heading out to an orphanage tomorrow. Dios le bendiga (God Bless) Alana

Hey everybody at home!!! I guess I can't honestly say that I miss you, because we're all really loving it here! :) I'm just going to mention a few of my highlights from the past few days, and I'm hoping that there will be many more in the coming days! One of them was definitely the church service from yesterday. These Mexicans are just so excited about God, and it's contagious! We all absolutely loved it, and the people are so open and friendly. The best is the praise and worship songs that we also know in English. It's awesome to each be worshiping in our own language the same awesome God!
The work today was hard--a lot of shoveling and spreading rocks and passing bricks, but it was worth it to know that we could be a blessing to this wonderful congregation. Just don't ask me tomorrow when I'll be feeling muscles I didn't know I had...
At church yesterday the pastor spoke on equal partners--how those who stay behind praying are just as important as those on the front lines. I just want to thank all of you for being our "equal partners" on this missions trip. It's so encouraging to know that people at home are standing behind us in prayer! Thank you so much, and please continue to remember us in the coming days. Love you lots!! Alicia

Hola senors, senoritas, and senoras. Today was really awsome, the whole group worked really hard. We shoveled dirt around the cement foundation for support and to fill in holes, we also loaded wheelbarrows full of dirt and rocks into the inside of the church foundation to level the ground. Once the piles we were takeing the dirt from were gone, we built a ramp for a big truck to come and and dump dirt inside the foundation of the chuch, but unluckily, the axel somehow broke while it was inside the church and had to be draged out by another truck, and we were unable to use the truck for the rest of that day, which slowed us down a little. But spirits were high and people kept working. The smaller trucks kept hauling in dirt. We played soccer with some Mexican kids for a little while while we waited for trucks to bring another load dirt. Near the end of the day the whole group got together to haul about two thousand bricks around the church. Once we were done, that concluded our work day. We came back to Brendas house, and had another amazing meal. The rest of the day, we realaxed and enjoyed eachother company, before turning into bed and geting ready for another early day. Thanks for all the support and prayers from all you people back at home. this trip would not be possible without you guys supporting us back at home. P.S. sorry for all the speeling errors. Hasta Leuago, see you all later. Alex, and Jesse

  3. Happy Birthday Andy and Alex. May this one be very memorable for you both as you serve God today.
It sounds like you all found that serving God, whether it is making sure everyone is hydrated, carrying bricks, or shovelling dirt, is worthwhile. Keep up the good work - and be ready for the next thing God asks of you.
    Have a great day!
